This week at Mass, I remember that Fr. talked a lot about St. Paul's conversion. He talked about St. Paul's conversion story and how he became a saint. He also talked about his influence that he had on our Church and Christianity. There were also many songs that played at Church. One of the songs was with the 'Ode to Joy' background of the song. This stood out to me because usually each song has its own music in the background and has their own lyrics.
This week there was very low temperatures. It also snowed and very icy on the roads. It has been staying in the low thirties and high twenties during the day and at night it can get as low as ten degrees. There has been strong winds that have made it feel more cold. The winds have been at 15 to 20 miles per hour. On Friday there will be snow showers, but this weekend will be sunny on Saturday and a little cloudy on Sunday.
This week at STM each house finished collecting diapers and money for the fundraiser. This week there was a girl's softball informational meeting. Yesterday was the varsity boys basketball last home game. Our girl's basketball team is headed into the regional championship this Friday. There was also an informational meeting for those interested in playing baseball this spring.
The fall 2021 honor came out earlier this week. This Thursday there will be our National Honor Society sponsoring a blood drive for those who are 16 or older. STM now has a new film club, which is dedicated to having fun creating short films and learning how to do everything from graphics and editing to writing scripts. Brody will be competing in the state wrestling tournament later this week. We had adoration today as a time to reflect and talk with God.
During the day, the weather today will be windy with a mixture of frozen precipitation. We may get three to five inches of snow and ice. The weather today is windy with snow showers this evening. It will start to become more clear later. The winds are at 20 to 30 miles per hour. There is a 70 percent chance of snow today. Later this week, it is supposed to get more sunny and winds speeds will go down.
Our girl's basketball team knocked out the top ranked team, Watseka, in the sectional semi-final game. It was a close game that ended with a score of 32-29. They will play next on Thursday against Ridgewood at six o'clock. Another big thing that happened this week in STM sports is the our boy's basketball team starting their post season play strong by beating Schlarman this past weekend, and winning last night's game against Georgetown.
There was an informational meeting about boy's tennis this week and soon girl's soccer will start up. Track and field is also starting its spring season soon. Softball and baseball is also starting up soon. The girl's basketball team is heading into tonight's game with a strong mindset to bring home a sectional plaque. They are playing at Blue Ridge tonight. Another way to watch any of these games is on NFHS, which is an app where you can watch the games from your home live if you are unable to make it to their game.
What I am looking forward to this month is the more sunny and warm weather that is coming. I am excited for the beginning of spring and being able to see flowers bloom and being able to play outside. I am excited to start my track season. I am also excited this month for spring break and spend more time with my family during our break.
The weather this week is getting a lot warmer. There haven't been very strong winds like last week. The snow is finally starting to melt and it is getting sunnier. The high today is sixty-one degrees and the low is thirty degrees. The humidity is up forty-four percent, and it is partly cloudy. The temperatures are supposed to drop tonight to around 30 degrees.
Lent is beginning this week with Ash Wednesday. The purpose of Lent is the preparation of the believer for Easter through prayer, mortifying the flesh, repentance of sins, almsgiving, simple living, and self-denial. Most Catholics celebrate this time of year by surrendering something for 40 days, praying, attending mass and following special rules for food.
Over Spring break, I helped assist my sister's volleyball team in the ir s
This past weekend the temperatures have been warming and the sun has been coming out more often. There has been a slight breeze on some days but on others there are winds as strong as twenty miles per hour. It has been a lot less rainy these past couple days. We have been having lots of bright sunshine here all over in Illinois. Later this week, the temperature is supposed to get as high as 69 degrees with a low of 53 degrees. Although it is getting a lot warmer, there is still going to be a lot of humidity and rain coming in on some of the last rainy days of April. What can I say? April showers bring May flowers. While the temperature is changing, it is also staying brighter around 8 o'clock at night and staying darker during the morning. It is really starting to look like summer. I also helped coach the sectional championship game. We lost, but I was very proud of how far we had come and how we played in our final game. I also created my March Madness bracket with my family. I spent a lot of time with my family because we stayed in Illinois. We watched "The Adam Project" together and "Free Guy". I also went to my volleyball practice in Bloomington.
During spring break, I also went shopping in Indiana with my mom and sisters. I got clothes for my sisters upcoming graduation. I also got some new clothes for this summer. I got a gift for my confirmation candidate, Finley, for her confirmation coming up this May. I got her a cross necklace and a prayer box. For the most part, I got to relax, sleep in, and spend more time with my family over this spring break.
This Easter I will be staying home and spending time with my family. With my family, we usually just spend time with each other or my mom's side of the family. We go to Mass the night before Easter on the Easter Vigil.
When we wake up on Easter morning, we have an Easter egg hunt in our house where we look for our baskets and look for eggs filled with money and candy. We usually eat egg and French toast casserole made by my mom. My grandparents usually come down and we spend Easter dinner with them. We never not have fun when my family is together.
This past weekend the juniors and seniors had prom, where Elie and Rowdy were named prom king and queen. Last week, we had spirit week and on the last day of spirit week, students were able to dress as their favorite teacher or administrator. This upcoming week we will have field day. During the field day, we will have shortened classes and we will play in games involving your house and families. Each family will be against each other to earn more house points. This will be the last chance for families to get house points and the last chance to win overall at the end of the year. There will be Finals coming up soon for the Seniors. Tonight we have senior night for our lady soccer sabers. Come out and support our sabers against Matton. Track and field is also soon coming to an end in a few weeks.
